Our Work
In The AUC Youth Department
Hi, my name is Gerson Robles. Since the beginning of 2008 I have been called to work for the youth in the capacity of AUC Youth Department Leader. I’m very glad that I can also work with a great team, namely; Csongor Matyas (now our secretary), Luke Philips, Daphne Newman and Jade Kneebone. If there is a verse which sums up our work it would be, “…Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jona, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.” John 21:15
The work of feeding the lambs of Christ is our main calling. Our ministry within the church is one that oversees the youth work throughout the fields. We know that our success depends upon drawing out and utilizing the full resources of all other ministries, leaders or individuals connected with our department – in this sense we need to function a bit like a sponge; taking in the feedback, ideas, questions, etc. from youth leaders and the youth in general. In return, we aim to provide our youth leaders with resources, training and tools relevant to their work.
In the time ahead of us, these resources and opportunities for training will
come via different means, shapes and sizes. There will be Youth Conventions,
usually organized once or twice per term, where there are abundant opportunities
to serve God. These are the times where, in a special sense, God meets with
and blesses His people.
The Youth Challenger magazine is another ongoing outreach resource. With purposeful,
well directed effort, this magazine can become a very useful tool to introduce
the young to the gospel of Christ. It also provides you with countless opportunities
for writing articles and news reports – we can never have too many of
them. Work is now also underway to have our own Youth Challenger webpage.
We’ve commenced planning a Youth Leader’s Conference to be held in 2009. The venue isn’t fixed yet so keep an eye out for more information.
Before all, the aim of our work is in seeing youth reach their full potential with God, as individuals, in their families, in the church and in the society around them. Our work is not done until we reach the world with the gospel. For this reason, having within our ranks a consecrated and capable army of youth, who are ready to serve the Lord under any circumstances, is crucial. We hope we can count on you.
