News from Samoa

Between the 1st and the 5th of September 2004 I had the pleasure of assisting the Samoan Field with their Spiritual Convention and also to act as Union Representative for the Field Delegation Session.
During Camp time the theme “Get Ready, Get Ready, Get Ready” drew up to 30 members and interests alike who had come to hear pointed truths connected with our message; truths necessary to prepare hearts and characters for the soon appearing of our Lord and Saviour. There was a lovely spirit present, and apart from the main island of Upolo or Western Samoa, attendees also came from American Samoa and other islands nearby.
The Delegation Session went smoothly, many thanks to the Holy Spirit, praise be to God. The numbers swelled on Sabbath to around 50. We were blessed with fine weather most of the time and were also favoured to have steady winds which cooled things down. This was my fourth trip to Samoa and I found the weather more pleasant. It was lovely to see the smiling faces of the children who were so eager to share and lend a helping hand. I love the way that they can recite Scripture, chapter and verse. The singing needs to be heard to be appreciated, such glorious harmony. Our brethren sing so beautifully, praise God.
The highlight for me was the baptisms. I praise God that four souls had been prepared and were ready to take their stand with the Lord. It was my privilege to baptise Br Talosaga Manu and his wife, Sr Lise Manu, Br Sione Faulafo and his sister, Sr Poka Faulafo. The right hand of fellowship was extended before the service on Sabbath.
The Service of Humility and the Lord’s Supper were shared on Sunday; 23 members were present as tears of joy and expressions of love were shared by all.
All too soon the visit came to an end. However, all who attended were strengthened in the Lord and were looking for ways to further share this beautiful message with others, and by so doing to prepare their hearts for our Lord’s soon return.
