WA Children’s Camp

A children’s camp was held for the WA field over September 28-30. It was a very simple camp with tenting and simple morning and evening worships, interspersed with children’s activities throughout Sabbath and some practical kite making on Sunday morning. We had a little bit of adventure with Friday night blowing a gale and pushing around our tents and canopies. The morning dawned with intermittent rain. We huddled together with the fire barely keeping us warm. The Children had children’s…

Schofields Church Visitor’s Sabbath and Family BBQ

27th & 28th October 2018 What does your ideal church community look like? This question was asked in the Youth Focus night a few weeks prior to a special weekend planned for the 27th and 28th of October.  Some spoke of having the same purpose, of being there for each other; being a safe haven for all. Others spoke that church community means having a place where we can draw closer to God and help each other in the process. We continued…

A Call to Parents

A tiny girl was making mud pies in the back yard. She was giving herself whole-heartedly to the work, pressing and patting the little pies into shape and laying them out on a board in the sun to bake. She was completely absorbed in her task. It was the most important thing in the world!  Mother came to the door and called, “Betty! Come here.”  The little maiden never paused in her work, nor lifted her eyes, nor turned her…

Music Comes From the Soul

Paganini, the great violinist, came out before his audience one day and made the discovery just as they ended their applause that there was something wrong with his violin. He looked at it a second and then saw that it was not his famous and valuable one.   He felt paralyzed for a moment, then turned to his audience and told them there had been some mistake and he did not have his own violin. He stepped back behind the curtain…

Today is my Birthday

Today is my birthday. Unlike every other birthday I have ever had, I will experience this day without my mom.  She has been gone six months now, but it hurts as much as the day it happened. Every day I think about it. It haunts my existence. It makes me sad and makes me cry like I’ve never cried before.  Still, I am lucky.  My mom gave me the greatest gift someone can give to another: life. Unlike any other…

The Divine Human Family – Part 3

CHRISTIAN EXPERIENCE WE will continue at this time the study of Christian experience and how it is obtained. “Him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in him.” 2Cor.5:21. R. V. “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who was made unto us wisdom from God, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption; that we might become the righteousness of God in him.” 1Cor.1:30. R. V. “Therefore…

Victoria Snow Camp 2018

From 17 August  to 20 August 2018, some of the brothers and sisters from Melbourne attended this year’s Snow Camp in Bright, Victoria. From Friday afternoon everyone arrived and settled in nicely. We opened Sabbath together with worship. The weather for Sabbath morning was wet, but our Sabbath lesson kept us warm. For the Divine Service, we had to discuss the theme of the camp, S.N.O.W-  Salvation to all the Nations Of the World. Everyone took part, and we had…

Winter Canvassing Program

Woombye, QLD—From 30 June to 4 July 2018 the Secretary of the General Conference Canvassing Department, Br. Adrian Finaru, held a Winter Canvassing Program in Woombye. About fifteen individuals participated in the five-day program. Participants spent time distributing literature and selling and delivering books door-to-door. There was also time for recreation and participating in the local church programs during the weekend, including a cooking class and a health talk.   In just three days the group had sold about 50 books,…

Baptism – Natali Fuenzalida

23 June 2018  Queensland Baptism   “Baptism is a most solemn renunciation of the world. Those who are baptized in the threefold name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit … declare publicly that they have forsaken the service of Satan and have become members of the royal family, children of the heavenly King.” Lift Him Up, p. 302.  On Sabbath 23rd of June 2018, a special afternoon service was held at Clayfield Church, where relatives, church members and…

Focus Singers Dinner and Concert

Colossians 3:17 “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him”.  We give thanks to God first and foremost for the bountiful blessings He has bestowed upon us that we were able to put one of Focus Singers’ long awaited plans in motion and to fulfill it with much success.  Sunday the 27th of May was the chosen night for something we had…

The Divine Human Family – Part 2

THE DIVINE HUMAN FAMILY – NO. 2 W. PRESCOTT ALL IN HIM I DO not ask this evening that you should comprehend the lesson of this hour, but I do ask that whatever the Word says may be received and believed; because it is only in that way that we can do anything with the lesson of this hour. The Jews lost one of the very best lessons, in fact the lesson of all lessons that Christ endeavored to teach…

Schofields Church Cooking Demonstration

Schofields Church – Vegetarian Cooking Classes  7, 14, 21 May 2018  We praise the Lord for being able to present the health message to the community another time through health lectures and practical food preparation and sampling.  The classes were once again well attended by the public.  It was lovely to see so many familiar faces and many new ones.  We were blest to have the Elim Missionary College students here for this event, and we thank Brother Paul Michael…

SA – Fellowshipment

On Sabbath the 26th of May, here in Adelaide we were privileged to have Brother John Warncken and Brother Gary Southwell profess their faith in the Lord and their belief in the truths that we hold dear in the Seventh Day Adventist Reform Movement. Both had previously been members of the Reform Movement, but for various reasons had resigned from church membership.  We were privileged to have Brother Paul Chapman here  for this same Sabbath and for the Divine Service.…

SA News

SA NEWS: 1st half of 2018.    The Lord calls us to reach out, to use our talents to evangelise, sharing with enthusiasm the gospel message, rather than doing our own pleasure. This is much needed here in Adelaide, a quiet, conservative, sleepy little ‘town’. Most people are content with what they have and the lifestyle they have chosen, so it’s very hard for most to change or even investigate something else that may be better. But the Lord knows the…

NSW Camp

The weather was good for the annual New South Wales camp at Elim Heights. Meanwhile, we prayed for rain—the latter rain of the Holy Spirit—as we shared in the spiritual messages on the theme, “Gathered for Eternity.”  Topics such as these were presented: “Atmosphere of Heaven,” “Ripening for Harvest,” “Throwing Out the Lifeline,” and “Counsel from a True Witness.”  A highlight of the camp was the Elim Missionary College graduation, where another 16 young people completed the four-month training program.…

Dudley Foord House Visit

A great opportunity opened to present a mini Focus Singers concert at the Dudley Foord House at The Ponds where Sister Catharina Sas resides. So, on Sabbath 19th May 2018, Focus Singers along with a small number of our church members, friends and EMC students assembled for a lovely afternoon of singing and instrumental items.   We were truly blessed, as I am sure the residents, their families and staff members were also, as we all joined together in singing old…

Elizabeth Olive Brittain

Elizabeth Olive Brittain  18/05/1933 – 9/05/2018  Our deepest sympathies and Christian love go out to the Brittain and Southwell families as they mourn the loss of their loved one, Elizabeth Olive Brittain (Southwell).  Elizabeth (also known as Mum, Nan, Betty, Aunty Betty, Bet, and Sr. Brittain) was a remarkable person, an inspiration to many.  Her thoughtfulness towards others left an indentation in the lives of many.  She will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her kindness, helpfulness, hard-working, cheerful personality,…

Condolences to the Allen Family

Condolences to the Allen Family  It is with deep sorrow that we express our heartfelt sympathies to the Allen Family.  Brother David Allen fell asleep in Jesus on 19th March 2018.  Susanna’s memories of her Dad  I always knew this day would come, but secretly I hoped it would be many more years away. I can’t thank you enough for all the things you have done and taught me over the last 28 years. Your passion for life and positive…
