He Was the Promised One

He was the promised one, The son of an old man. The delight of a grey-haired Mother, He was God’s well-thought-out plan.   The old man was Abraham, He and God were friends. But t’was heard Take now thine only son And of his life, You will make an end.   But this was the son of promise, The boy that had taken away their pain, If his line should be destroyed, There would be no hope again.   But…

Elizabeth Fisher’s Baptism

A large group of people gathered around the Swan River nearby our church to witness the beautiful baptism of Sr Elizabeth Fisher. Sr Elizabeth had envisioned her baptism being a living testimony of what Christ can do in the life and she invited as many people as she could to witness the event, including some new acquaintances she had only met weeks before. Family, neighbours, friends and church family were all present to hear her testimony and to see her be…

WA Children’s Camp

A children’s camp was held for the WA field over September 28-30. It was a very simple camp with tenting and simple morning and evening worships, interspersed with children’s activities throughout Sabbath and some practical kite making on Sunday morning. We had a little bit of adventure with Friday night blowing a gale and pushing around our tents and canopies. The morning dawned with intermittent rain. We huddled together with the fire barely keeping us warm. The Children had children’s…

Schofields Church Visitor’s Sabbath and Family BBQ

27th & 28th October 2018 What does your ideal church community look like? This question was asked in the Youth Focus night a few weeks prior to a special weekend planned for the 27th and 28th of October.  Some spoke of having the same purpose, of being there for each other; being a safe haven for all. Others spoke that church community means having a place where we can draw closer to God and help each other in the process. We continued…

A Call to Parents

A tiny girl was making mud pies in the back yard. She was giving herself whole-heartedly to the work, pressing and patting the little pies into shape and laying them out on a board in the sun to bake. She was completely absorbed in her task. It was the most important thing in the world!  Mother came to the door and called, “Betty! Come here.”  The little maiden never paused in her work, nor lifted her eyes, nor turned her…

Music Comes From the Soul

Paganini, the great violinist, came out before his audience one day and made the discovery just as they ended their applause that there was something wrong with his violin. He looked at it a second and then saw that it was not his famous and valuable one.   He felt paralyzed for a moment, then turned to his audience and told them there had been some mistake and he did not have his own violin. He stepped back behind the curtain…

Today is my Birthday

Today is my birthday. Unlike every other birthday I have ever had, I will experience this day without my mom.  She has been gone six months now, but it hurts as much as the day it happened. Every day I think about it. It haunts my existence. It makes me sad and makes me cry like I’ve never cried before.  Still, I am lucky.  My mom gave me the greatest gift someone can give to another: life. Unlike any other…

The Divine Human Family – Part 3

CHRISTIAN EXPERIENCE WE will continue at this time the study of Christian experience and how it is obtained. “Him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in him.” 2Cor.5:21. R. V. “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who was made unto us wisdom from God, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption; that we might become the righteousness of God in him.” 1Cor.1:30. R. V. “Therefore…

From 17 August  to 20 August 2018, some of the brothers and sisters from Melbourne attended this year’s Snow Camp in Bright, Victoria. From Friday afternoon everyone arrived and settled in nicely. Colossians 3:17 “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him”.  We give thanks to God first and foremost for the bountiful blessings He has bestowed upon us that we were able to put one of Focus Singers’ long awaited plans in motion and to fulfill it with much success.  Sunday the 27th of May was the chosen night for something we had…

The Divine Human Family – Part 2

THE DIVINE HUMAN FAMILY – NO. 2 W. PRESCOTT ALL IN HIM I DO not ask this evening that you should comprehend the lesson of this hour, but I do ask that whatever the Word says may be received and believed; because it is only in that way that we can do anything with the lesson of this hour. The Jews lost one of the very best lessons, in fact the lesson of all lessons that Christ endeavored to teach…

NSW Camp

The weather was good for the annual New South Wales camp at Elim Heights. Meanwhile, we prayed for rain—the latter rain of the Holy Spirit—as we shared in the spiritual messages on the theme, “Gathered for Eternity.”  Topics such as these were presented: “Atmosphere of Heaven,” “Ripening for Harvest,” “Throwing Out the Lifeline,” and “Counsel from a True Witness.”  A highlight of the camp was the Elim Missionary College graduation, where another 16 young people completed the four-month training program.…

A great opportunity opened to present a mini Focus Singers concert at the Dudley Foord House at The Ponds where Sister Catharina Sas resides. So, on Sabbath 19th May 2018, Focus Singers along with a small number of our church members, friends and EMC students assembled for a lovely afternoon of singing and instrumental items.   We were truly blessed, as I am sure the residents, their families and staff members were also, as we all joined together in singing old…
