After four weeks of hectic activity at Malekula and Port Vila, Vanuatu, the brethren are pleased to report on their progress so far.
Malekula Church Project
The house of worship on the island of Malekula was almost completed with only the main door and some window shutters still to be provided for. The AUC Treasurer reports the brethren are short of $2,000 for needed materials.
The floor of this structure is made of sand which was bagged and carted from the beach by our intrepid volunteers. Concrete was used as footings, forming a solid outer perimeter base for the walls.
Port Vila Church Project
Good progress has been made on the main Port Vila church project. The Sabbath School Offering that was taken up by General Conference will only cover for half the expenses. While the collection was just over $30,000, the purchase price of the land alone was over $12,000. That left the brethren with very little finances to build. Nevertheless, the brethren report that the roof should be on the building within the next couple of weeks.
We thank you for your gifts so far in assisting the brethren in Vanuatu, and appeal for your continuing generosity in order that this project may be completed. We will update you with more specifics in our next edition of Good Tidings E-News.
