SUNSHINE COAST WINTER OUTREACH 2016

25-28 JUNE 2016

The members of Woombye Church had looked forward to the Sunshine Coast Winter Outreach 2016 which commenced on Sabbath 25 June 2016 and ran until Tuesday 28 June 2016. This was to be a time of fellowship and missionary work combined over four days, and God blessed us with beautiful weather to match.

On Sabbath we had some visitors attend, and they helped us letterbox the little town of Woombye in the afternoon.

Sunday was the first full day of outreach, and we met at the church in the morning for morning worship and organising for letterboxing at Maroochydore. As the morning progressed more people were added to the missionary band until there were about 20 people delivering the “Great Controversy” free book offer flyer and canvassing. We met together at Maroochydore beach for lunch before returning to the church to prepare the evening meal. At 5.00 pm Br Jacob De Souza presented “Prophecy for Today Part 1”, connecting the prophecies of the past with present day events. Through quotes and pictures we could see how the Pope is gaining popularity on a global scale and how God’s people are to be separate by observing the Sabbath, God’s holy day, and not substituting Sunday worship for Sabbath and thus receiving the Mark of the Beast. After this everyone enjoyed a hot evening meal that had been prepared before returning to their homes.

Monday was another day of outreach and, overall, we were able to deliver a few thousand leaflets. We again enjoyed our lunch at Cotton Tree Beach and the children were able to ride their scooters and play in the sand and water. We then returned to the church for preparation of the evening meal and Part 2 of the “Prophecy for Today” by Br Jacob. Everyone appreciated the spiritual food and the close bond of fellowship that developed by spending more time together. The evening meal was vegetables with baked potatoes and toppings, and it was thoroughly enjoyed.

Tuesday was training and preparation for a cooking demonstration at 2.00pm that afternoon. Sr Monica Balarezo delivered the training and presented the health lecture on proteins. The participation of all present was marvellous; the demonstrations were well explained and kept everyone’s attention, and the little room was filled with attendees anticipating a wonderful gourmet experience. Each demonstrator has gained much more confidence, and hopefully we will be able to use these health presentations as an outreach in the future. The co-operation of the young people attending made this event an outstanding success, and the MC, Sr Elisabeth Balarezo, ensured that each demonstration was ready to go.   Everyone enjoyed the delicious new recipes, and all the food quickly disappeared as we ate an early tea together.
