Australasian Union Youth Convention – Western Australia 2006

23rd to 31st December, 2006 Sabbath 23rd December 2006 Everyone awoke early Sabbath morning to the peaceful sound of the gentle breeze blowing softly through the trees. After a short but inspirational worship, breakfast was served and everyone enjoyed the delicious food that was served up to them. Then visitors started arriving and everyone hurried to get ready to be on time for the Sabbath School. When everyone had settled themselves on rugs underneath the tall pine trees on the…

New Zealand Youth Camp 2006

WHATIPU – Mountains, beach, black sand, light house, caves, sand flies, no campfires, long drop, no door COLD shower, 5 adults and 9 young people. This was the setting of a long anticipated family camp, 3-5 November 2006. Friday – Five carloads of camping gear and very excited young people arrived and were soon engaged in the usual set up of camp. As soon as we opened Sabbath, we walked to the caves and used some lanterns, torches and citronella…

Western Australia Kalgoorlie Youth Camp 2005

On Friday morning we (Damien, Johnny and Catherine) arrived early at Ben's house. After some rather humorous packing ventures and after Naomi very sadly put away her blow-up boat due to no room in the car, we had a later than expected start to Rowles Lagoon near Kalgoorlie for a weekend camp-out, a 6 1/2; hour drive from Perth. After a very long trip we arrived safely. We set up camp and lit the fires just in time for Sabbath…

Jindabyne Trip

Well as for sight seeing, it was great, and what a wonder it is to see God’s creation! I saw each tree, flower and various plants. You can see the way that each one grows, and there are no two the same, and let us remember who was the Creator of it all. If we go back to the first book of the Bible, in Genesis 1:11-12 we read, “And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb…

New Zealand Field Spiritual Camp 2005

Our dear Saviour often taught in parables, to help all to see truth in a clearer light. "…Many failed of grasping at once the meaning of his parables; but as they day by day came in contact with the objects with which the Great Teacher had associated spiritual truths, some discerned the lessons of divine truth he had sought to impress, and these were convinced of the truth of his mission and converted to the gospel." (SSW, 1 Dec 1909)…

Western Australia Youth Camp – Perup

On the 25th March, members and non-members alike gathered at Perup Ecology Centre for the WA Youth Camp. Extensive bushland surrounded the site and provided a few of us with glimpses of various wildlife. The theme of the Camp was "The Voice of God", and the meetings and worships which were conducted throughout the weekend enlightened us to many ways God can speak to us, a few of them being, nature, the Bible, and our conscience. Activities included a possum…

Victoria youth Camp – Survival 101

21 January 2005, 0700 hours, an overcast morning and one vehicle short – only two of the problems we were to face on our youth survival outing. After a phone call and some slight modifications, we had a car. There were some small delays as we waited for new faces, then we were on our way. A two car convoy left from Laverton, another from Melton. Rendezvous point one was beside a small creek; car one and two arrived at…

Schofields Building Project Report – Aug 2002

Dear friends in Jesus, "Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" Psalms 107:31 Since our last update we have had more external building work done, like bricklaying and roof lining for the residence and awnings. Most of the work has been done on internal items. The next large item on our agenda is the driveway and car park, for which we have a number of prices…

PNG Youth Convention

It was with a lot of apprehension mingled with a thrill of adventure that the little group of Australians left from Sydney on 24 June to embark on the most awesome two weeks that we had ever imagined. Well for me it was! After 3 tiring plane trips, we were very warmly welcomed by Br. Peter Dakire and family in Madang. Everything was so new for us that every aspect of the next couple of days, which involved sight…

Western Australia Missionary News

For some time it had been in my mind to visit those individuals who had ordered a copy of, “The Great Controversy” from the leaflets letterboxed.  Although I have no problem going on my own to do this, I do not think it is wise for a sister these days to do so, I shared my desire with Sr. Maureen Parkes and we decided on a day that would suit us both. Tuesday morning came, and after much prayer, we set…

Stratham Church Building Dedication

On Sunday, 2 December 2001, the Stratham Church was dedicated.  After much preparation, and many invitations, the little church was completely full as the congregation rose to sing Samuel Wesley’s great hymn, “The Church has One Foundation”. The Bible reading was taken from John 4:5-15, and Br. Southwell gave his address based on that incident in Jesus’ life where He met the woman at the well and discussed many great things with her. After being questioned on the best place to…

Schofields Building Project Report – Feb 2002

Dear Friends in Christ, Greetings with Psalm 147:1 "Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely." In our last update we mentioned that the next major item was organizing brickwork and we are happy to report that the bricklaying for the hall and the kitchen has been completed along with a number of other items: · Window and door frames for offices and the hall…

Missionary Stall at the Maddington Markets

The day started at 5:30 am for a few Perth young people on 10 January 2002, as a missionary stall at the Maddington Markets had been organised for that day. We very artistically arranged both health books and pamphlets onto a little table we had obtained for the occasion, only to have a very strong wind roar up and sweep some of our little arrangements away. Fortunately, we managed to retrieve most of the runaway pamphlets. We thank God…
