Baptism of Timothy Barat – Victoria

On Sabbath, the 23rd of June, 2012, the clouds parted over Sunbury as we gathered to witness our brother Timothy Barat take his stand for Jesus. Members and friends from the local churches and the community gathered for the services at Maranatha Church, with baptism conducted in a river nearby, and followed by fellowshipment and refreshments in the inviting warmth of the meeting hall. A highlight of the day was the testimony which Timothy shared about how the Lord…

Victoria Camp 2012

The biennial Victoria Camp was held on the Easter weekend, April 5-9, 2012. Our theme was “Jesus' Last Prayer,” on the subject of Christian unity. Jesus' prayer in John 17 was for His disciples. The main emphasis of His prayer was “that they may be one.” We learned that the unity of the church is the greatest evidence of the reality of Jesus' mission. Our first priority must be unity with Jesus ourselves, which will lead to unity with one…

Baptism – Jonny Gules – VIC Conference

Johnny Gules is now our brother in Christ. On 25th March, 2012 many came to see and offer support to their dear friend as he took the step in baptism, recognizing Jesus as the Lord of his life and covenanting to follow Him. At 6:00pm church members, family and friends commenced gathering on the green grassy banks of the Hawkesbury River, Windsor NSW to witness the occasion. Testimonies of friends and family began shortly after the opening prayer, bringing into…

Baptism VIC-TAS Field – Ligia Lupoiu

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matt 5:16 On the 21st of May 2011, Ligia Lupoiu made her covenant with the Lord, becoming the youngest member in “Maranatha” church. It was the sunniest day of May so far when members, friends and all heaven gathered to witness her baptism. Someone once said that we all have a gap in us in the shape of…

Infant Dedication VIC-TAS Field – Jemima Ella Szabo

On May 21, 2011 the brethren of Maranatha Church, Victoria witnessed the dedication of a precious baby. Jemima Ella Szabo was born to Br Joe and Sr Brigita Szabo on 6 November 2010, 100 days premature and weighing just under 500 grams. The next five or so months were very hard for the family as little Jemima had to live at the hospital until she was strong enough to live without support. This meant daily trips to and from the…

Maranatha Church Building Project

Due to the growth in membership our brethren in Melbourne are working towards establishing a second house of worship in Victoria. Having already organised as the Maranatha Church, they recently purchased a block of land on which to build. The land is in a prime location, just off the Hume Freeway north of Melbourne. By God’s grace most of the money to purchase the property was raised in local donations, and a loan was taken for the remainder. The church…

Baptism in Victoria

On the Sabbath of the 21st of January 2006, Nikita Reed from the Northern Territory (who will be our first member in the Northern Territory) and Conrad Whitaker, were baptised in the Maribyrnong River, Victoria, in searing 40 degree heat (many wanted to be rebaptised because of the heat), reminiscent of the heat that we experienced at the Youth Conference in Sydney, this last year. Moreover this day, Beatrix Whitaker was accepted through profession of faith, and the Whitaker’s baby…

Victoria Youth Activity Camp 2005

“God’s Heroes” – Our Learning Curve Anglesea, 18-20 November 2005 Faces were lit with excitement when the word was spread: we were to organise and run our own camp. After choosing our theme “God’s Heroes” we began to lay plans. We would need food—very important—also someone to cook it. Sara Boje was elected head chief and given a small army to com-mand. The task: to write a menu, a mouth-watering task if I may say so myself, organise the purchase…

Vic/Tas Field Spiritual Conference 2005

From Psalm 133:1, "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!" On Friday 25th March 2005 we turned off Myers Creek road and slowly drove into "Ferngully Lodge", a retreat camp on a little property set amidst the quiet, scenic hills of Healesville. It was the second year running that we had visited Ferngully Lodge for our Australian Southern Field annual Spiritual Conference and Victorian/Tas-manian Field Delegation session. Having settled in quietly to…

The first two souls,…

Victoria youth Camp – Survival 101

21 January 2005, 0700 hours, an overcast morning and one vehicle short – only two of the problems we were to face on our youth survival outing. After a phone call and some slight modifications, we had a car. There were some small delays as we waited for new faces, then we were on our way. A two car convoy left from Laverton, another from Melton. Rendezvous point one was beside a small creek; car one and two arrived at…

Victorian/Tasmanian Field News

We would just like to praise the Lord for the time He has given us each one to work for Him. The last few months have been busy and rewarding in this corner of the vineyard. Both old and young among our members and friends from Keilor Park Church and Shepparton Group have been involved in the missionary work. We all realise the end is near and the message of Christ’s soon coming needs to go to the world.…
