Johnny Gules is now our brother in Christ. On 25th March, 2012 many came to see and offer support to their dear friend as he took the step in baptism, recognizing Jesus as the Lord of his life and covenanting to follow Him. At 6:00pm church members, family and friends commenced gathering on the green grassy banks of the Hawkesbury River, Windsor NSW to witness the occasion. Testimonies of friends and family began shortly after the opening prayer, bringing into light the changes made in Johnny’s life. Every testimony was very moving and showed how much God had been at work in Johnny’s heart, and how powerful the God we serve really is. As each person stood up to share their experiences in seeing the changes in this man’s heart, beams of happiness on Johnny’s face were plainly seen by all. He knew he had people around him who loved him and cared for his salvation. Having made the decision to give his heart to the Lord, he stood up to share his testimony. As he was talking there were smiles, laughter and crying. This truly was a wonderful day. Then came the time for our dear brother to take the profession of faith. Johnny, smiling, said yes to every question asked. Then special prayers were given on his behalf. I believe all of heaven rejoiced in seeing this one man give his life to God. As the prayers came to a close, we all made our way to the edge of the water to witness the baptism of Johnny.

As we watched Johnny walk into the water tears filled the eyes of many, as they joined their voices in song. They had been waiting to see this day for many years and had been praying with longing in their hearts that one day he would make a stand to serve God. Now before their eyes the moment had finally come. As Johnny and Br Ben Thiel, the officiating minister, reached the middle of the lake, all were silent. Br Thiel raised his hand and baptized Johnny Gules in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. This act signified the beginning of his new walk with Christ in His church. Now, our dear friend and brother in Christ, Johnny “is a new creature”, “old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17) As this new man walked out of the water we all made a line to greet him, and offered him a word of encouragement.

We ask that all reading this will pray for Johnny. Satan isn’t pleased with what happened that day. He will work hard to make him fall. Please pray for Johnny Gules in a special way that he may continue to put God first in his life. Ask God to give him the strength in his new walk with Christ! If you are a new creature in Christ or if you are still deciding if you want to give your life to God, I leave this verse with you to carry on for the rest of your life. “Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” (Josh. 1:9) God promises to be with each and everyone one of us every step of the way, let’s take him at his promise today.
