Sabbath Nature Outings – Wentworthville Church

Sabbath Afternoon Nature Outings

The brethren of Wentworthville Church have designated every third Sabbath afternoon of each month to be spent out in nature.

Platypus track, Bidjigal Reserve has been a favourite this year, and a beautiful Sabbath afternoon lunch spot for the young and young in heart. There is a lot to see in the reserve with over 370 native plants, over 140 native animals and lots of birds, but sadly there are no platypus to be found in the creek anymore.

“Teach the children to see Christ in nature. Take them out into the open air, under the noble trees, into the garden; and in all the wonderful works of creation teach them to see an expression of His love. Teach them that He made the laws which govern all living things, that He has made laws for us, and that these laws are for our happiness and joy. Do not weary them with long prayers and tedious exhortations, but through nature’s object lessons teach them obedience to the law of God.” Child Guidance p. 534.
