October 10-13, 2018
The highlight for the last quarter was our NZ Field youth conference where we focused on the theme “To Know Jesus.” We looked at John 17:3 and used the theme song “Everybody Ought To Know.”
The youth and children enjoyed character building stories, singing choruses and hymns, and composing a welcome song in different languages. We were privileged to take part in the opening sabbath program, singing a few medley choruses and reciting the quote from Education p.57, “The greatest want of the world.” In the afternoon we enjoyed a variety of activities (needle-craft work, weaving, confidence courses, trampolining, nature walks and kayaking).
We enjoyed a lovely weekend of spiritual refreshing and fellowship.
We thank the Lord for the time we could spend contemplating such thoughts as the importance of making Jesus our friend and sharing our joys and sadnesses with someone who cares. The children learned that when we have a close friend we are confident and more willing to share everything with them.
A situation arose that was a hindrance to our planned kayaking activity and one of the children suggested that we ask our friend Jesus for help. Prayer bands were put in place that morning before we ventured out. The rain poured and the wind blew strong. However, with faith we walked to the beach and when all was ready we all knelt and prayed. In answer to our prayers, the rain slowly stopped. Everyone enjoyed their activity that day and made a promise to make Jesus their close friend.
