Baptism in the Seychelles

Baptism in the Seychelles

“I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.” Luke 15:10.

On the 13th of June, my wife and I made our way to the Seychelles. In times past, such a journey has always been associated with gladness especially at the thought of fresh island air and spending time with family. However, it was not so this time as the aim of this trip was to bid farewell to our mum, who sadly passed only a few days before our trip. We have the hope of seeing her again very, very soon. Christ’s coming is so near! Mum held on to faith in Jesus till her last breath. What a beautiful hope we have.

Our trip to the Seychelles was made brighter by seeing the brethren and hearing of their experiences and progress. Despite many challenges pertaining to Covid-19 with restrictions making it very difficult to meet on a regular basis, they are all of good courage and working together to establish a dedicated place of worship. Construction is already well underway and the brethren hope to dedicate a house of worship to the Lord by September 2023. Praise the Lord.

As men and women dedicate their lives to God, the enemy becomes angry. These brethren worked hard at securing furniture for the Lord’ sanctuary, and while in storage a fire engulfed the storeroom and consumed it all. But praise God, they remain strong and are working towards purchasing new furniture.

Although the country is without a Bible worker, Brother Roy has been actively sharing and teaching the gospel truth to souls. As a result of his humble efforts, Br Steve & Sr Cythra embraced Christ as their personal Saviour and publicly made their profession on Sunday the 10th of July, 2022.

The weather, though, was not exactly in our favour. During the monsoon season, the ocean and rivers become alarmingly rough and unsafe and the option of an outdoor pool was most convenient & desirable. The baptism was witnessed by members of our church, friends and families. We wish Br Steve and Sr Cythra God’s blessings as they unite their hearts to Christ. I praise God for the work of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of humanity.

The brethren send their love to the brethren in Australia. Please pray for the work in the Seychelles.
